One of the primary goals of NM-AGEP is to prepare its Ph.D. students for the professoriate. Consequently, each campus offers professional development workshops throughout the year on topics such as managing a research lab, wirting a successful fellowship proposal, and time management. These workshops are usually open to all graduate students at the alliance universities and some are telecast throughout the alliance and to partner institutions.
Each year the NM-AGEP Annual Conference brings together faculty, staff, and students for panels, keynote speakers, a research poster session, and networking with colleagues from within New Mexico, the region and nationally. For an overview of the 4th Annual Conference, held at NMSU in October 2005, see the NM-AGEP Newsletter. For photos of each of the four annual conferences, visit the Photo Gallery.
NM-AGEP Fellows are encourages (and may be eligible for funding) to attend other professional development conferences and events sponsored by AGEP and affiliated programs nationwide. These opportunities are announced on the NM-AGEP e-mail forum.
NM-AGEP also hosts and co-sponsors workshops of interest to faculty on topics such as graduate recruitment and retention and mentoring.
