NM-AGEP Faculty Profile

Dr. Jeanine Cook recently joined The Klipsch School of Electrical and Computer Engineering in a tenure-track position as an assistant professor. She received her BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado in 1987, her MS degree in Computer Science from the University of Colorado in 1993, and her Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University in 2002. She is a member of the ACM and the IEEE Computer Society. Dr. Cook was one of five new faculty members who joined NMSU through the ADVANCE recruitment program in 2002.

Dr. Cook's research interests include microprocessor performance modeling techniques, performance optimization and measurement, and workload characterization. She specializes in microprocessor performance modeling, performance measurement and optimization and workload characterization.

Recently, Dr. Cook was awarded a $40,000 research grant from Sandia, entitled "Quantifying the Performance Impact of Microarchitecture Structure and Technology Scaling on Sandia Scientific Applications". This grant will fund research into quantifying the performance impact of various conventional microarchitecture features on the execution of these applications. Current and projected future architectures will be studied, leading to the proposal of an application-specific microarchitecture. In addition, she was awarded a $220,602 equipment grant from Hewlett Packard to test new Itanium computers. The grant, which includes three servers with four processors each, will allow faculty and students to test a computer chip with revolutionary architecture.

Dr. Cook was the recipient of the 2004 NM-AGEP Mentoring Award.
